I'm staying at Mirage, looking for some Jacks or Better 6/9 machines ideally. If those are hard to come by, what's the next best bet. I'd like to find good machines at the nicer casinos.

The Las Vegas Hilton is a great place to play 9/6 JOB they have 27 nickel machines & at least that number of quarter machines. The best part is the location of those machines, you get to play great VP at a reasonable level in the greatest sports book in Las Vegas.

The LV Hilton is located about 1/2 mile from the strip on Paradise. You can walk over, take the city bus(#108 Paradise CAT bus), use the Strip Trolley & or take the Monorail.

The Strip Trolley stops right at the door of the LV Hilton's Sports Book

The Monorail stops only a few steps from the Space Quest casino at the LV Hilton

IMO these are the places to play VP
Palms
Silverton
Fiesta Henderson

If you would like to try some of the other great VP games
FPDW - 100.76%
JWKOB - 100.65%
DB - 100.2%
The Palms has quarter 9/6 JOB and they are also one of only 5(that I know of) casinos to have all 4 major games at full pay. The Palms is a little over a mile West of the strip on Flamingo, but there is no problem getting there. The Palms has a free shuttle from the strip, as do both of the other hotel/casinos in their little cluster(Rio - Gold Coast)

I did find a few JOB 6/9 at TI near Tangerine club. But I couldn't find any at Mirage. There is an occasional one or two littered amongst most casinos - you just have to keep an eye out and get lucky :-).

The largest number of 6/9 JOB I found was at the Westin Casuarina beside Ballys (Behind Bills Casino) they are almost all 6/9s.

Unfortunately, they seem to be targeted whenever a casino decides to renovate their floor. But this is true for all casinos and not just the megas ones.

You shouldn't have too hard of a time finding the 6/8 machines but more and more machines are turning up 5/7 or are becoming extinct thanks to Double (Double) Bonus Poker.

Good Luck.

9/6 JoB is a dying breed on the strip especially at the lower denoms. Mirage only has it at the $5 and up level. All of their .25 machines are 8/5. Ugghhh!

You can still find some $1 9/6 in the area at the Flamingo, Venetian and Harrahs.

The general rule is- the farther away from the strip, the better the payouts. But if you don't want to venture too far, try the Palms- they attempt to cater to the locals by having high-payout machines, both slots and VP.
