For a washer/dryer which is the better brand? Thanks

Sorry, but none of the others have a nice blue hat like I have.
Get a Kenmore top loader, its made by Whirlpool and avoid all front loaders like the plague as they are complicated to repair. If you buy a combo with a top loader - Kenmore, Frigidaire and GE are all made by Frigidaire. (so are the front loaders) Dont buy anything that you think has electronic controls of any kind.- The simpler, the better.

Maytag is the best choice. Kenmore; as has been mentioned, has been supplied by several companies. the bulk has been whirlpool up until recently. The service contract is also more complete with maytag still. A good product. I own mostly maytag and have been warrenty for them for a number of years. good warrenty.

Kenmore isnt a brand ...a kenmore appliance can be a whirlpool or ge or maytag appliance...kenmore doesnt make appliances,they have someone else make them and put the kenmore name on it......maytag is or was one of the best washer dryer combos you can get

It's a toss-up. Maytag is now wholly owned & manufactured by Whirlpool. The new Maytag machines are nothing like your grandma's Maytag. Buy from a reputable dealer with a good service department. BTW, that excludes Sears, their service sucks!

If I had to choose between the 2... it would be Maytag.

I have had both. both gave me good service. So either one would do the job. You may want to consider price, or features that you may need.
If I was really pressed to choose, then most likely the Maytag.

they are manufactured in the same factory.Kenmore is just a private labled Maytag.
