THE INNOCENT MAN by John Grishim is the kind of book that once you pick it up to read, you cannot put it down.
It is the first book he has written based on fact. It is a true story of many micarriages of justice. Your blood will boil, it will get you so mad at the "system".
All of books are of the type that once started, you can't put them down. I have read ALL his books and this is byfar the best one yet.

Hi Niamh.
My favourite hook-you-in thiller writer was Desmond Bagley. he used to go and live in exotic places, then pay for it by writing simple thrillers sent in the locale (Iceland, the Andes, the Sahara). What a lifestyle! Books are good undemanding fun too.
The other guy for undemanding fun is Clive Cussler, especially the Dirk Pitt books. Drivel, but entertaining (don't be put off by the awful film version of "Sahara").
If you want something off the wall, track down the "Falco" series of books by Lindsey Davies - detective fiction set in the Roman empire under Vespasian. Clever, convincing and exciting all in one! Start with "The Silver Pigs" and read them in sequence, as they do run consecutively and you get the best effect by following the correct order.
Enjoy, Steve.

James Patterson and Dean Koontz write good thrillers. If you go with James Patterson I reccomend starting with Along Came A Spider, the first in the Robert Cross series. Much better than the movie. For Dean Koontz Whispers was pretty good. I just started reading Patricia Cornwell but I don't know if she is considered thriller.

Try Twilight, by Stephanie Meyer. It's become kind of a cult favorite. My wife read it in a day and I did as well. I believe it's going to be a triology. The next one is called New Moon.
The Dogs of Babel. Not exactly a thriller as in murder or whatever, but an excellent book. I couldn't put it down.
Nathan's Run, which I came across at an airport and couldn't put down either.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time....a murder mystery narrated by the detective, a 15 year old boy with Aspergers, a type of autism. It is truly grabbing from the first line.

Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez or Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, not quite as difficult a read as everyone makes out.
The Marquez book is really a love story, so you check out option two!
Happy Reading

I really like thrillers with a touch of sex. I use to say romance-but it isn't romance anymore. It's sex. Linda Howard has some really good ones out. They will keep you looking behind you. Also Lisa Jackson, Beverly Barton, Dinah McCall,Iris Johansen, I've read some by Sharyn McCrumb. Hers are good-but you have to really get in to them. Philip Margolin has several I liked. Catherine Coulter is good. Deborah Smith has some out also. Maybe some of these will get you going. Good Luck!!!

If you haven't already read it, try The Davinci Code. It's fast action, with the main characters getting out of many tight corners. It's not necessarily a religious / anti religious book, as is often thought.
