Last week I went 2 an arts festival with her expecting to see art and listen to bands play in one of the largest festivals of its kind in the U.S. We spent almost the entire evening with some of her friends trying to buy cheap beer at a tavern on the site of the festival and pouring it into the cups they charged $6 a pop for at the concessions.
When it was time to leave, she told me the festival wasn't what she expected and the reason she gave was that there were almost 60% black people there. She's too ignorant to talk to about this, I think. And if that wasn't bad enough, on the train home, we were standing next to 2 guys seated right next to us. They were around 21 and white. Out of no where, she asks them, "So are you guys gay? That's ok. I love my gay men." I about jumped off the train at that point. I sat down next to them and apologized for her. She wants to see my new home. I don't feel like calling her bc of her behavior. She gave me a card to congrat me on the home.

It's my opinion that you should confront her on the situation. Ask her if she is racist? Some people say some really stupid things, but they don't mean for them to sound like they did. If her response is yes, she is racist, then you need to decide if you can still be friends with her. If it was me, I would tell her that if she feels that way then I no longer am in need of your friendship. I can't believe that in 2007 we still have to deal with ignorance. I prefer to date black men and I have a bi-racial daughter and a black foster son. It's time for the people in the United States to stand up and end racism!!

I always say that the people you associate yourself with is a reflection of who you are. We never really know anyone until we start to spend time with them and see how they act. If you are not that type of person, then call the girl and tell her that you thought her behavior was inacceptable and you can no longer hang out with her. Friends come and go, but do not ever loose who you are because you are associating yourself with the wrong people.

dont be too close to her. If you hang with her a lot ppl will think that you are like that too. Besides i cant stand it when people are like that. 2 of my bf were black one was Spanish and my best friends is black. I'm 13 and for my age a hear a lot of comments even t o me. I'm italian but i look spanish and in the summer 1/2 black. That is one of the most rudest things to say about someone. Dont get too close to her. unless you talk to her and tell her that you want to be friends with her but you dont want her talking like that.

That is absolutely ridiculous!! You know, it really is true... You are who you hang with. Not to say that you are that way, but it will look like you are to all around you. I'd stay away from her. If she asks why you are avoiding her, tell her. Explain that you were really embarrased by her comments to the guys on the train and you don't care for racism.

She is ignorant..
Ask her if she thinks she's racist. Some folks just need it pointed out to them because they just dont see it. If she doesnt get it. Ask her how would she feel is someone walked up to both of you and asked her if she was the butch in the relationship. SMH. Some people just need a kick in the pants.
If she continues, drop her like a hot potato.

Thank her for the card and be finished with it. Her actions in public are going to reflect on you. You can't always be 3 steps behind her apologizing for what she says or does.

You should tell her how it makes you feel when she acts like that and inform her that it is inappropriate, rude, and ignorant. If she continues in her ways tell her you are not like that and are not going to associate with people who are. Don't just ignore her though make sure you get to let her know your frustrations and her flaws.

Well if she is your friend, you should be able to talk to her about this with no problems.
Tell her how you feel. She will try and be more understanding if she cares about the friendship.
Personally, no way in hell will I hang out with anyone like that.
