No because it would be very hard to judge. Do you pick a player with the highest scoring output or the best over FG / FT / 3-PT percentages or a combination of the 2? It's hard, considering you'll have to determine how much of the offense are they responsible for and how efficient their production has contributed towards the team's win / loss column. It's just too complicated of a process to evaluate. That is why they created the MVP Award. This takes into account who was the best player on each team (so you're guaranteed a high scorer), the team's record, and how important they were to their team's success. Having an MVP award instead of an Offensive Player of the Year Award encourages teamwork and helps players focus on their team's success instead of only their own.

Nope. It would be A good idea. Baseball has something called the silver slugger award. It goes to the best offensive player at that position. Maybe the NBA will follow.

There isn't one, but there should be. Scoring titles don't necessarily mean they are the best offensive player, just that they most likely throw up a lot of shots. It should be who contributes to the offensive the most overall, therefore if there was one I think it should be decided off of: scoring average of course, overall shooting percentage, and I don't see how you could count out somebody with a lot of assists because a lot of players wouldn't be scoring if they didn't get passes at the right time, or the ball in the right position.

Nope, here is a list of all the player end of year awards:

-Sixth Man
-Defensive Player
-Most Improved
-Rookie of the Year
-MVP

And just a note: MVP isn't a "offensive player award." Nash got it twice and he averages over 10 assists per game.

quite i think of the suitable offensive participant gets scoring champ or MVP despite the fact that that would desire to no longer be suitable. Offense isn't approximately YOU scoring continuously there's a time the place you are able to help and offensive rebound yet whilst there replaced into an Award named "Offensive participant Of The year" regularly it would visit a factor defend who advantageous components double double's by potential of scoring and helping.
