I have two alge eaters. One is about 5 1/2 inches long and the other one isn't really growing. I'd say he's about 2 inches long. I got them at the same time. I have 2 10 gallon fish tanks so one went in each tank. The one that isn't growing is in with 5 other fish, cuz their's not room to growing much (fish grow accordingly to the space they have). The other alge eater, the 5 1/2 inch one, is in with 1 other small fish so thats why he's growing, he's all the space to grow. So what if I tranfer the small one into the big one's tank. Will he grow bigger? will the big one stop growing? will the big one eat the small one? I need some help here.

They're actually called plecostomas.

plecos, probably common plecos will need about 75-125 gallons as they will end up at 21-28 inches.

if their both 10 gallons, then they will not grow anymore, so moving the other one into the larger ones tank would do nothing.

try and look towards upgrading your tank into something more larger, or return th plecos to the LFS, and get a algae eatter that is more for a ten gallon, like dwarf oto.

well it might me two late for the other pleco to grow much
the small one might be stunted already
and about tranfering the small one to the big ones tank
i wouldnt recommend it
plecos are very territorial determining on what specific speacies you have
if you had a bigger tank id see no problem but since its a ten gallon theyll be see each other often and one of them might kill the other
id recommend if possible to move some fish from the smaller ones tank to the biggers maybe one or two
that would be the wisest choice if you cant do that then just switch the big one to the smaller ones tank and the smaller to the biggers ones

fish do not grow to the size of their tanks!!!! they do not get "stunted"!! their growth rate depends on surface area of their tank. GROWTH RATE how fast they grow. and yes their both in too small tanks.i understand many people are misinformed about fish care but people that aren't completely sure should nt be answering questions.

They won't grow any larger because you stunted them
