Half of the joy of eating the watermelon is spitting the seeds. Plus the fact that the melon always seems sweeter "WITH" seeds.
Family reunion custom.....Watermelon seed spitting contest, winner is driven around on tractor drawn wagon with a crown of watermelon. Don't get much better than that!
Glad to see someone else misses them. I personally always look for the ones with the seeds at the store.

I don't miss the seeds. I am so thankful for the the seedless varieties because I'm not having to dodge the seeds when cutting the melon into pieces for fruit kabobs or making melon balls. There's less waste, also--and of course, there's the time savings. The wedges also present more nicely on the plate as well as on buffets.

No that above is wrong. Just cause its whole doesn't mean anything. They are genetically produced. Their genes are altered to not produce seeds, and they are bred whole.

As for your question, yeah some joy will be lost, just because there are seedless ones availible now. Im sure there are farmers who just won't sell artificial watermelons, so they'll always be round.
