Disconnect from the Internet and NEVER insert any data disks from another person!
Depending which ISP you have, some offer security software as part of their package. Call them!

Don't use e-mail, don't surf, don't download, don't connect to the internet at all.
Watch the ads. Our Sunday paper is loaded with ads every weekend. The first thing I hit is Office Max, Office Depot, etc. Two months ago, on a weekend special, I picked up a 3-license Norton 2007 for $9.99. Is that too much for added protection?

You don't I guess unless as someone had said go to AVG or to another site download them. There are lots of options but you just have to be sure that they are going to promise you real results. My friend used AVG virus protection and ran another virus scan on it through Symantec throughly scanner and picked up viruses. She now uses another type of virus protection and its helping her out alot.
I'll get the name of it and post it back here for you when she gets online. I should be able to add more info later.

Just install Linux. It's free and any software for it is free. Just leave Windows behind to wallow in the cess pool of poor code that it is!
