Basically if we control Iraq as well as Afghanistan we are then surrounding Iran. This puts enormous economic pressure on the extremist government of which is extremely unpopular amongst it's vastly unemployed , large, young adult, pro-west population. A free Iraq are extremists worst nightmare. There way of life would be impossible and it would back up their objective of a global Caliphate for a thousand years at least. Iran is a major contributor to terrorists that pray for the return of Allah and are willing to kill innocense to get it.+
Those whom the middle east favors will control the world. We want them free.

It's much more complex than a simple answer. OPEC harvests 60% of it's crude oil from Iraq. It really doesn't matter who controls Iraq politically speaking, OPEC controls it economically. Of course, in retrospect, OPEC controls the World economy though oil production.
The statement that whoever controls Iraq controls the Middle-East, I believe would be a definite false statement. Yes, Iraq is the Holy Land of Islam and holds Mecca, however, It has neither the wealth or World-wide political power to ever "control' the Middle-East. If any country could hold that title it would be Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Saudi Arabia keeps close political ties with the majority of the other Middle-Eastern countries through "Royal marriages". And with Saudi Arabia still having the royal lineage from the controlling ruler, they hold the power.

Iraq has rich fields of cheap, easily-accessible OIL. That's where the power lies. The Bush administration, headed by two former OILmen, have one mandate from those wealthy elitists and industrial who control this country: grab all that OIL at any cost.
Next stop on the Bilderberg Convention's agenda: IRAN. For the very same reason: lots of cheap, easily-accessible OIL.
Until the world can stave off its addiction to OIL, whoever controls the OIL fields will control the world. The United States must maintain control over OIL; if China ever gets its hands on a preponderance of the world's OIL supplies, the U.S.A. will cease to be a superpower.
When our government tells us this unconstitutional, illegal, unjustifiable, immoral 'war' is about bringing democracy to Iraq or peace to the Middle East, it's lying. When our government tells us it's protectting "our national interests", that can be interpreted to mean: "What's OUR oil doing underneath THEIR sand?" The government will protect the profits of the giant OIL companies before it will invest in alternative fuels or fuel-efficiency projects. -RKO- 07/27/07

Good question, but a tough one. Whoever controls the middle east will have enormous worldwide power, but I'm not sure they would control the world since the are a lot of oil reserves in the western hemisphere that have not been tapped. Also, although it's slow, we are moving to alternative energy sources. I don't think I agree with your statement that whoever controls Iraq controls the middle east. Politically and energy-wise, I think Iran and Saudi Arabia may be more important. I'm willing to be convinced otherwise, but I need to know why you think control of Iraq is more important than control of any other middle eastern country.

Anyone who thinks that whoever controls Iraq controls the Middle East has no understanding of the Middle East. Simply because Iraq is large and centrally located does not equate to control. The history of the region tells us that it it impossible for any one country to ever hope to control the area. There are too many factions and too much long-standing animosity for one group, no matter how powerful, to ever achieve control. Therefore, the rest of your statement is moot.

I disagree. Whoever controls Iraq has established either a democratic/free society or an Islamist government. Whoever controls that has the ability to influence the other countries in the region to turn their way. I absolutely object to people being persecuted and left to live in virtual slavery therefore I oppose any Islamist government.

Probably so. Control of this particular supply of oil is imperative to the Zionists as Israel has the American supply rapped up with control of Bush's family tree. Instituting Project Phoenix therein will insure their victory as has been done here under the guise of "Homeland Security".

Iraq is not the cornerstone of the Middle East. Oil is. As long as the world is still dependent on it, whoever has it controls the Middle East and therefore the power. Geography means next to nothing when you have the military power that exists nowadays.
The plea for George W. Bush's failed policies fall upon deaf ears today, Mr. Neo-Con Lover.

I disagree with everything you say. Al Qaeda wants Iraq to have a base of operations and to get oil money so they can continue in their efforts to take over the world. The US government is correct to stop them.
