ok on espn i see people who lean over the fence to get the ball. i'm talking about the walls on the side like the 3rd base line. and then they get escorted out by security. why do they gettt in trouble? if they make contact with the ball ain't it a ground rule double? and i saw another highlight on espn where the ball was almost a homerun and the guy leaned over and caught it. why was he escorted out?

They shouldn't be escorted out. They should be tasered, right there in their seat, into unconsciousness, and be left there to drool onto their shirt for the rest of the game (and even long into the night; have the guards check in once in a while), while any neighboring fan can snatch away the ball.

Do that a few times in every park, and maybe this stupid "lean over and get in the way because ***I*** gotta get me a baseball" nonsense will stop. How the hell some fans, lucky enough to score field-side seats, cannot restrain themselves this little bit -- well, fie upon them, let's break out the stun guns.

If you go after a live ball in play you are escorted out of the ball park and the batter is awarded a ground rule double.
If you fall onto the field to catcha foul ball you are also escorted out of the stadium.
In other words do not touch the field of play or interfere with a live ball and you will be fine........

ENJOY the game........

have people not learned from Mr. Bartmen's error.

Would you want to get in the way and cause a ground rule double if it were the other team. That's like cheating in my book. I'm glad they are escorted out, I can see want to get a jump on everyone but when they interfere with play they should leave the ball park.

If they lean over and its a fair ball then they are affecting the play of the game. Not all are necessarily ground rules doubles if the fan doesn't touch it...It only becomes that if they do.

They have the right to throw anyone out that interferes with the game, and that statement is reflected right on the ticket that is used by the fan to get in the ballpark. When it happens the fan is escorted out of the ballpark and not allowed to return.

you cant interfere with play. foul balls they dont care about unless you enter the field

but with live balls if a fan interferes then yea they are escorted out to keep the game moving smoothly. if they just let any fan lean over to grab a live ball then play would stop more than it should, making the game slow(er)

When you sit in those seats there is a sign on the railing right in front of you that says something like fans are prohibited from interfering with balls in play and doing so will put you at risk of being ejected.

Because they are inter fearing with game. Ground rule double is if the ball hits the top of the yellow line and then falls over the fence. The fans can't reach over the fence...

For interfering with play. I think it says it on the back of the ticket. You have to wait for the ball to come into the stands.

If you enter the field of play you are violating the terms on the back of your ticket. You are not part of the game so stop trying to be part of the game. You pay to watch not to participate.
