Hi Vonhiggins,
Emotions such as "guilt", "anger", "fear", "terror" and "sadness", are only a few of what we have to work through....when it opens... Sort of comes and goes at will, and we never know when it can surface, so that can also be frightening....
>>>>>>
The important thing is : these messed up things in your head, this baggage you're carrying around is not as huge and scary as it makes out...and the worst part of it all is not dealing with it...it's trying to avoid it....
>>>>>>
Sometimes, the smallest thing effects one person more than the rest.... Perhaps everyone else has "lived" something down.. and one person keeps playing it over and over again in their brain....
All I can say is : emotional pain stays for along time....
>>>>>
You lose your self esteem, confidence, self-worth and it takes a long time to get that back... Depending how strong that person is... And the understanding and love they receive from people there trust, to find it worth-while to go on...
>>>>>
Some people, will pick at the scabs... so that they will never heal, and even if they do manage to heal.. there is a big scar to remind them, that the damage was done.....
>>>>>>>
Issues, do not just melt away...in fact they do quite the opposite, they hide in the dark corners of your mind.. and become "big" and scary and most of all isolating, in some cases..
The way you perceive it changes... There's always a scar though, whether inside or out.......
>>>>>>>
I think, time just makes you wiser and stronger.... The wounds always stay, you just learn to cope with them differently.....
>>>>>
Your mind perpetuates this pain until you or someone/something else extinguishes it.............
>>>>>
But, memories still stick in your brain...certain songs, certain sayings, seeing someone abuse someone else in public...etc..this will haunt you forever : If YOU let it...Thats the secret if you let it..............
>>>>>
BUT, there is hope at the end of the tunnel.... Take your power back, try to take your control..., easier said than done...
But, with someone you feel comfortable with trust and understands the situation and pain, can make a huge difference...
Thanks for asking, vonhiggins!
My regards!
*Have a nice weekend*, ahead of you.....

Eventually the portal closes, for some, never to open again.
Memory is the lock, it seems the key is held by others, most have letters after there names.
What happens before hand, is a revolving door.In and out of crisis one will go.Some more serious then others.

Human brain has unlimited powers. It can develop a WILL POWER unlimited. You can therefore shut thoughts if you want to, otherwise the brain can always pictureize old situations and emotions will come alive. It is how you train yourself.
