LUxembourg is pretty! You can take a train to Trier, Germany (very beautiful Roman settlement) that's about 45 minutes.
To Arlon, Belgium it's about 17 minutes by train from Lux.
And to Thionville, France, it's 25 minutes from Lux, about 50 minutes to Metz and 37 minutes to Longwy, Fr.
You should read up on Thionville, Longwy, and Metz, France, as well as Arlon, Belgium to see it they are interesting stops,
but Trier, Germany is worth a visit for sure!

I studied in luxembourg for a semester in college. It is basically true. Luxembourg is a really small country about the size of rhode island, I lived in the southern part in a town called differdange. It was was very close to France and Germany, maybe 10 min to france and 25 to germany. Belgium was was about an hour and a half or 2 hours away by bus. The capital luxembourg city is more central but since the country is so small you could easily make it to all 3 countries in a day. Its something like 40 percent of the luxembourg city work population commutes to work from germany or france. I had a train pass for the luxembourg rail system so it was very easy to travel throughout the country, but if you are going to leave the country you have to buy a ticket or use your eurail pass. Trains will take a little longer than a car because they have many stops on the way, but over all the countries are very close and Luxembourg is an amazing country with a central location to really have the opportunity to explore europe.
