Sadly, they apparently do not realize that. But I agree, labels and stereotypes only make things worse.
The only way to fix this is to have civility and respect in dealing with those who disagree with us.

Definitely...I don't even understand why it's so popular. I hate labels...there is no political party right now that I could identify with because there's so many things about both that I don't agree with. I would never call myself a liberal, conservative, democrat, republican, libertarian...I feel the same when it comes to religion. I don't believe in god, but I don't call myself an atheist...not because I'm afraid of what others think, or the negative connotation association associated with the word atheist, but because I don't think think I should be labeled because I don't believe in something. There are plenty of things that I don't believe in, like psychic ability...there's no label (that I know of) for people who don't believe in psychics, or ufos...or anything else.

I guess they would be Mo and Curly to My Larry...
Yes indeedy do.
The problems really are complex enough and difficult enough without the labels frankly.
The real issue is, both sides are talking to the middle 20% that tends to float back and forth. They're generally disconnected, lazy and barely know the issues, hence we get buzz words, labels, and nonsense that really does nothing, solves nothing, and only serves to contrast and point fingers.
It's still the best system in the world though. Just very flawed.

I only feel like slapping the "average joe" lefty or righty occasionally… when either of them get all fanatical
I feel like slapping every member of our House, Senate, & White house hourly! Washington has become nothing more than a grandstand for political SPEECH and NO ACTION.
I could go on and on, but I feel my blood pressure rising and I am getting a headache...

Sometimes I just feel like slapping everybody.
Except for building officials. For those guys, I just prefer to plain choke them over the counter.

I know what you mean. I think that labels are polarizing, and tend to define people, instead of allowing them to define themselves. We need more anarchy in politics!(is that a label?)

Yep, sure do. Both have contributed to faults and wrong decisions with the liberals more than the conservatives is my humble opinion.
Good question.
