That's really a great question.I was wondering about that myself.I think they'll have another job beside being aurors. There is still some dark magic in the world and aurors r still needed.

One can logically assume that like in the real world there will never truly be an absence of criminals. Aurors are stated to be "Dark Wizard Catchers" they do not solely battle the Death Eaters. You do get the feeling that their duties in general already related to standard Police work before the first Voldemort crisis and between the first and second.

Oh, come on! Do you really think the wizard folk are that much different than us muggles? There will be LOTS for Aurors to do, stuff that has nothing to do with the Death Eaters. There will be wizards that steal stuff, cheat people, lie, intimidate others, and so on, just like in life. People do that sort of thing whenever they can, so there will always be a place for those who protect others from them.

Jeez, way to project your own emotions onto a completely unrelated subject.

Comparing the Aurors from "Harry Potter" to your own twisted view of American military power is a bit of a stretch.

In Potter's magical world, there will always be such people as will try to take short cuts and easy ways to get what they want. These people will resort to "dark magic" and normal, law abiding folk will alway wish for protection against such villains.

Try not to make this all about your own feelings.

Just because the death eaters are gone, doesn't mean that there are no more bad people in the world. I'm pretty sure there'd still be plenty for them to do.

In the words of Alistar (Mad-Eye) Moody ...
"CONSTANT VIGILANCE !"
... there will always be wizards attracted to the Dark Arts that need to be shown the business end of a wand.
