i was recently tested for an UTI & it came back normal, but when i went to an OB/GYN they found leukocyte in my urine...now the doctor asked me if i wanted to go on antibiotics but i was on them before. & it's also possible i have a yeast infection. so how do i treat the leukocyte??? i was on antibiotics before & it wasn't improving. then i stop taking them because my UTI was negative & they told me to stop taking them...does leukocyte mean i have a UtI? does anybody know how can this be treated? i called a primary doctor but got no answer. so what should i do??

Leukocytes are simply white blood cells. Leukocyte is a sign of inflammation, which is most commonly caused by a urinary tract infection.

You need to go back to your doctor, and start taking the antibiotics. Essentially, all UTIs result from a bacterial infection. Normally, urine is sterile (germ free) when it is excreted by the kidneys and stored in the bladder; it washes out the small amount of bacteria in the urethra as it passes to the outside. But sometimes, bacteria in the urinary tract overwhelm the body's immune defenses and multiply, causing an infection. Ignoring the urge to urinate may increase the likelihood of UTIs.

Supplement Recommendations-

Vitamin C : 500 mg every other hour, as tolerated. Stop using if bowel movements become loose.

Cranberry : 400 mg twice a day. Or drink 16 ounces of pure, unsweetened juice a day. It's more for prevention than treatment.

Goldenseal : 1 cup goldenseal tea several times a day. Goldenseal can also be blended with echinacea or nettle tea.

Acidophilus : 1 pill (1-2 billion live organisms) twice a day.Take if your doctor has also prescribed antibiotics.

Echinacea : 1 cup echinacea tea several times a day. You can blend this herb with goldenseal or nettle.

Nettle : 1 cup nettle tea several times a day. You can blend this herb with echinacea or goldenseal.

Every one has given a clear picture of leukocytes. WBC, or leukocytes are the warriors of our body. They combat with any kind of bacteria, or viruses. When the count increases it means your RBC count has reduced which in turn means your infection has increased. If after being on antibiotics, you still have UTI, then you may need to do a culture test of your urine sample. Once the infection is taken care of, your leukocyte count will be stabilized.
Check up with your Urologist, he may be in a position to explain better.

White blood cells or leukocytes are cells of the immune system which defend the body against both infectious disease and foreign materials. Several different and diverse types of leukocytes exist, however they are all produced and derived from a pluripotent cell in the bone marrow known as a hematopoietic stem cell. Leukocytes are found throughout the body, including the blood and lymphatic system.

The number of leukocytes in the blood is often an indicator of disease. There are normally between 4×109 and 11×109 white blood cells in a litre of blood, making up approximately 1% of blood in a healthy adult.[1] In conditions such as leukemia the number of leukocytes is higher than normal, and in leukopenia this number is much lower. The physical properties of leukocytes, such as volume, conductivity, and granularity, may change due to activation, the presence of immature cells, or the presence of malignant leukocytes in leukemia.

Leukocytes are white blood cells and their presence in urine indicates some infection. May be the right antibiotics will help you. If you have yeast infection, that can also be treated. You can try alternative remedies too if you are interested.
