Voldy is no more, why would they need Aurors?

No. To begin with, Harry is not the strongest wizard. I can think of plenty of people, beginning with McGonagall and Flitwick who could take Harry, with more or less ease.

Keep in mind that Harry was singled out as the only one who could kill Voldemort, and the relationship between those two was, to say the least, unique. Harry could kill Voldemort because Voldemort's weaknesses and blindnesses play into Harry's strengths.

Remember also that Harry voluntarily gave up the Elder Wand, which would have been his only edge against other strong fully adult wizards.

By the time of the epilogue, Harry is 36, doubtless far stronger in magic than he was at 17, and as we saw vererated by the wizarding community.

I dont think they would be scared of him. Harry defeated one of the greatest wizards Voldemourt. So they know that he will use his talent to achieve great things. They know he will not be using his magic in a dangerous way or using it for dark magic.
He probably became an auror because there probably are witches and wizards who still believe in dark magic and still follow Voldemourts opinions and his type of magic. So Harry wants to work against that and use his talent in a good way.

He isn't exactly the most powerful wizard... I think everyone who said he got by on luck rather than talent is half-right. He was just... special, or different.... I mean, if he were so talented, why didn't he perform spectaucularly in classes?

And why would the wizarding world be afraid of someone who finished off the most feared wizard for a century?

No, most of the wizarding world would actually be content knowing that there is someone out ther to protect them if any danger ever happens to fall on them.
But the surviving Death-Eaters would be afraid, rather terrified of him for sure, considering that Harry was the one who managed to defeat their master for a second time and that too this time for good!

No, I don't think anyone in the wizard world would be afraid of Harry, because inspite of having great power, he demonstrate great selflessness and responsibility. Additionally, he gave up that which would have made him THE most powerful wizard - The Elder Wand.

I don't think anyone who has really read the books could ask that question. I got from them that all Harry wants is a loving family after all he went through. The Weasleys were the most important influence in his life and he probably wouldn't have remained sane without them. In the end, of course, he had them and his own family to boot. And of course he was a hero and a role model.

I don't think anyone would believe that he'd take advantage of them. He defeated Voldemort for the wizarding world, I expect he is reveared.

Thanks to Dumbledore's sagacity, Harry Potter was placed with the Durnsleys (Sp?) for humility as well as protection. Harry Potter never got above himself and therefore shouldn't become an arrogant S.O.B. in his later years.
