a disc will give more stopping power and its spelled brake

Regardless of what kind they are if your brakes break your in trouble!
But DISK brakes are far superior in stopping ability and are much easier to replace when worn out.

If you're talking about the rear, (can't hardly find a front drum anymore), on a stock bike from a good maker - no difference. They're designed to be adequate.

Disk brakes have more power than drum brakes.
And also more reliable.

Both are save brakes if you use them too late it will break you
