There a many things that can help. Sex is one of them. Long walks if you can stand it. The older generation will say bumpy car rides. However sex is probably the best out of all of them. The more direct stimulation your cervix gets the faster it will dilate. I was induced for all of mine due to I don't have the hormone that helps your body go into labor so if this is your first talk to your doctor and ask what more you can do to help this situation along.

Babies come in their own time. I was dilated 1 cm for a month with my son, and I tried all the tricks, walking, car rides and sex..none of them worked. I don't think there really is a way to help it along, it just happens. Most doctors won't let you go longer than 2 weeks over. Its hard to wait, but try. I was induced after 3 days. My son wasn't ready and it made labor harder. But if you really want to speed things along, I've heard a teaspoon of Castor Oil will put you in labor.(I didn't try that one). Good Luck

Dilation doesn't necessarily mean anything. My cervix was high and closed during a morning exam the day my water broke. My daughter was born early the next morning. The doctor sent me home at noon, my water broke at 3:00 pm.

have your membranes stripped - my wife wasnt dialated at all and after she had the inner wall of her cervix "stripped", she went right into labor that night. Its very common and used to stimulate things. Sex worked on our second child so between the two you should see some results. Worst case, let nature take its course.....this is an opportunity for you to enjoy you and your life before the child comes. Easier said than done (especially from a guy!!!) but seriously, you never know what you have/had until you lose it. Children are a beautiful contribution to any life...as long as you have prepared for them.

Ouch...inducing hurts like hell !! Im going to tell you what to drink, a bottle of castor oil. You can find it at your local drug store where the laxatives are. This actually is a laxative. Its a clear bottle with clear syrup in it. I have to warn you though that it taste VERY nasty so youre probly gonna have to hold your nose while drinking it. My moms OB suggested this to her 32 yrs ago b/c she would not deliver. All us women in the family have done this and believe me, it work without any harm to your baby! Some of us have even gotten to pick our childrens b-day b/c once you take this, you will deliver within 24 hrs. I was very skeptical at first and was actually the first in my family that tried it but it worked and ever since then, everyone drinks this when they are tired of carry aroubd all that weight......Good luck!!!!
E-mail me if you ave any other questions about this liz.caballero21@yahoo.com

Sex!! that helps. Even would help you deliver in much ease.
Relax coz the more tenseful you are, the more difficult it would be.
Congrats. Welcome to (real) motherhood!
