I heard that if you mix extra strength tylenol with ibuprofen that it will react like a lortab? Is there any truth to that?

I never heard that but I know if you take more than 8 extra strength tylenols in a day you will destroy your kidneys.

No. Lortab is just a brand name for hydrocodone, which is synthetic codein plus acetaminophen (Tylenol).

Hydrocodone is a narcotic pain killer that requires a prescription. There's a REASON it requires a prescription.

Extra Strength Tylenol (acetaminophen) and ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) are different types of pain relievers. Ibuprofen also reduces inflammation. These 2 can be taken together, but won't give you the same feeling hydrocodone does.

Any and all of them can hurt your stomach and liver taken in too high doses or too often.

Actually it is ok to do this. My Granddaughter just recently had both of her ears infected and the doctor told us to give her Tylenol for the fever and Ibuprofen for the pain. Also, four Ibuprofen are the equivlent of one 800 Mg tablet of RX strength motrin. His recommendation was Tylenol an hour or so later the Ibuprofen. If the pain continues I would strongly suggest that you see a dentist.

Only if you add the codeine...lmao!!! If that were true I'd have saved TONS of $$$$$$ on prescriptions, as would the rest of us who have chronic, incurable, pain. That is what Lortabs Vicodin and the like are for; not for mixing up concoctions for that next good buzz. Though ibuprofen and tylenol are often taken alternately to reduce swelling and ease pain, I truly hope you don't make a habit of mixing OTCs, or Prescription drugs , or herbal suppliments without better advice than you seem to have gotten from who ever told you that. It could be lethal!

Lortab contains an opiate. Tylenol & ibuprofen are in the class of NSAIDS which is not an opiate. Mixing the 2 together unfortunately does not give an opiate. It only gives the chance of liver damage & GI ulcers.

Haha no! I wish it was that easy. Ibuprofen + acetaminophen does not = hydrocodone. If that was so then everyone would be doing that rather then actually getting Lortab. Where did you hear that? I bet there's actually people out there taking those together and thinking they feel something. XD

no, you can take the two of them together...their right doses..but it won't make loratabs..and IT WON'T MAKE YOU DOPEY...if that is the effect you are looking for. Not saying you are. But, no...other things go into prescribed meds...that is why they have to come from a PHARMACIST!!
