I know that John Howard is a common name (I have an American friend named John Howard who is an engineer), but I think you are probably referring to the Prime Minister of Australia.

I think the majority of Americans don't know. Yeah he is the prime minister of Australia, and Mountaindew is right, he doesn't put up with any crap, and tells extreme groups to accept australian values or get out.

Yes, I believe he is the prime minister of Australia, and he has GUTS. He told the Muslims if they did not like how Australia was run and its customs, they could leave. Is this the John Howard you are speaking of?

Well I'll be honest I'm Canadian and the name rang a bell but I had no idea who he was. Of course I have been in China for the last year and a half with no English newspapers or TV.

Mountaindew you're the first person I've heard refer to John Howard having "guts". Most people (especially Australians) refer to him as Bush's a**e kisser (as in the way he always seems to side with the Americans/Bush, troops into Iraq etc).
