If you're a politician, why not lie to appropriate funds for a good cause instead of pocketing it like they do

Has there ever been a politician who ever pulled a "Robin Hood" type of move at the expense of his/her career? If its so impossible to "accomplish" what politicians are supposed to as far as advancing their country in the right direction, and end up lying and being bought off, etc...why not make the first move and do something illegal that this country will benefit from?

I don't ever remember Robin Hood being elected to Congress.....no....not ever.
