Does it really matter?

I can answer this one from experience. From time to time, anchors do wear shorts behind the desk.
I have worked in two different TV News Rooms, and I have met many an anchorperson. They almost always wear the suit jacket, and tie, but the lights in a TV studio can be really hot, even with the air conditioning running the temp in a news studio can sometimes reach into the 90's.
So, sometimes the anchorpeople actually do wear shorts. It's not like they will be seen by the viewing public, so they figure, Why roast in full suit, when at least they could be a little more comfortable in shorts.

A girl that did the serious news on Tech TV never did. She looked all professional from the waist up, but had on shorts and Nike's underneath. They finally busted her once she said she was leaving the show. If I could get away with that I would!

The way most reports look, I sure hope they wear pants. There are a few that I wouldn't mind if they didn't wear any :)

They do not always wear pants... I know for a fact sometimes they wear shorts, jeans, or other non-dress pants.

Why wouldn't they? Would you go to work without pants, even if the general public doesn't see you?

yes it does would you want to be sitting next to them I dont think so and what about the wheather man has to stand up sometimes
