Yes, I work for an internet retailer and the situation is really bad at the moment!
Even though the postal strikes have only been for a day at a time (and are currently ongoing at the moment, with different parts of the post office on strike each day), the overall effect has been that there are massive delays with post!
This is going to take weeks, if not months to sort out, and the situation continues to get worse as the workers carry on their strikes. Packages which would normally take days to deliver are now taking 3 - 4 weeks, and there seems to be a huge amount of parcels which have just vanished into thin air!
Unfortunately, theres really not much you can do about the situation, its a case of waiting and seeing if your packages turn up.

Yeh I believe there are a series of strikes over the next two weeks. Thats Royal Mail for ya! We at TNT now have a mail service, will have TNT posties out on the street by next year, could be goodbye Royal Mail, as we havent been on strike in the 5 years I have worked here!

At least you have a strike to blame the problem on. The US post office is just plain inefficient. Let FedEx compete on equal terms and the Royal Mail will be out of business by Christmas.

I am waiting to receive an important letter from my bank which they say is in the post but could be delayed by a strike of postal workers. I am still getting many unsolicited letters each day with offers for car and house insurance, double glazing, holidays, and many other items of junk mail. Even a letter from my bank telling me about some new charges they are about to make. How do the postal workers know which are the important letters and separate it out and only deliver the junk?

Can you give some more details as I've had numerous problems with the Royal Mail including a postman fraudulently signing my name whilst I was out for a recorded delivery item (needs to be signed when delivered)?

We are in dispute at the moment and there is industrial action taking place on a weekly basis, with more planned so there is going to be disruption to your mail for quite a while yet I'm afraid. Sorry :-(

Here's the official line, but bear in mind they may have a backlog to clear as well.
Another thought - you're not expecting anything from the flooded Gloucester area are you?

There was a postal strike on weds, and one a week for the two weeks before so there's probably a backlog!
