After leaving a company on AWFUL terms, and being sued for emailing violations, they are topping it off with an illegal farewell letter.. hummm

i can't think of any reason why it would be illegal. maybe from some reason you wouldn't want to tell them the name of the new job but if you are leaving on good terms, shouldn't be a big deal

If it is, the legislature had WAY too much time to waste. Where are you anyway? This question appears in more than one country.
