Well first of all: You shouldn't be planning your shower food and games!! It is a party for you and your baby, and if your sister offered to throw it for you, she should be responsible and take care of it.

Since you are asking, I will give my advice on foods! Baby theme food is fun, like a baby veggie tray, like mini tomatoes, baby carrots, broc and cauliflower cut up tiny, little mushrooms, etc. It's fun to keep food with the "baby" sized theme! Mini cupcakes are a breeze to make and very cute! A good type of dip to use with a fruit tray is yoghurt!! I like strawberry yoghurt, and it's way healthier than a fat and sugar packed pre-made fruit dip you would buy, yet still tasty!

Shower games.. hehehe, we had so much fun at my baby shower three years ago! There was one game where every guest got to cut a string to the length of how big the size around me and my belly was. Whoever is closest gets the prize! People do the same thing with toilet paper, but count squares! Fun shower prizes are stationary note-pads, girly pens, $5 gift certificates to a coffee shop, cheap candles, insence sticks and holder.
Here is a neat site to check out with LOTS of ideas for baby shower games!! http://www.babybingo.com/freegames.html
Have fun, and relax!! It's one of the last times you will be able to just sit back for awhile!!

For foods you can serve tortilla chips and seven bean dip which can be purchased at the local store. You can make potatoes stickers with cheese and green onions really cheap, deviled eggs, and of course hot wings. As far as games go... If men are there you can have a couple of cheap baby dolls from the 99 cent store and have them race to put on the diapers which is always fun to watch. Also, there's the all so stupid cotton pick up game... I do not know the significance to this game but people love it. Then there's the GUESS how big your stomach game... Loads of fun for you. Hope this helps.

My sister just had her baby and we had her shower a couple of weeks ago. We basically served sodas and juice, a hero, and potato macaroni egg salad....Simple things...

As for games, we did this one where we had two columns one with adult animals and then the other with baby animals and you had to match the proper name of the animal to it's parent.

Pin the baby on the due date was another one we did. We made a calendar and marked her due date off. Then we blindfolded the guests and they had to get as close to the due date as possible, whoever was the closest wins. And we did this in 5 rounds.

Then you have the ribbon game wrapping it around the belly.

And the guess how much candy is in the jar game, where it was $1 per guess, winner gets the candy, money goes to baby.

Hope all is well and good luck and congrats :D

give the mini things to your guests if you cant use them . I would use a yogurt dip on the fruit tray . what about some taquitos and finger sandwiches for the cheap foods . u could also use the mini things as prizes for the games you are going to play . I hope this helps.

As for the dip for the fruit, use a strawberry or vanilla yogurt. That always works out nice. Also, if you want to do small food, places like Hannaford or Shaws sell mini quiches and such. Also, mini 'hot dogs' wrapped in philsbury crossant dough and cooked can be served with mustard and ketchup as a dip.

use the mini things as decorations or tie them to candy gift favors for the guests.

Lord I hate baby Showers.. BUT I have a friend who had one, and it was great. she didn't have to fetch an apple out of a bowl of vinegar with her mouth or something silly as that.

We (herself included) all brought cakes, tarts, sandwiches etc. She rented a couple of DVDs with children in it, like the parent trap etc. We all talked, she opened presents, we ate and watched a couple of movies. It was fun.

Instruct all the guests to bring a plate of food/snacks. Saves money, and everyone is involved!
Dip for fruit??? I've never heard of this. My guess would be Whipped Cream?

Good luck!

One good game to do is candy bar in the diaper. You simply take small pieces of candy and put in a baby's diaper and put in the microwave for a few seconds to melt the candy. Then once it is melted enough you have the guest try to guess what type of candy bar it is.

Note: When candy is melted in a diaper it looks like baby do-do.

Foods could be meatballs or sauge links in sauce, veggie try, fruit, sandwiches, cake, chips & dip. Try to make is more like snack foods.

i just had my baby shower and it turned out so good :) to eat we had a fruit tray with a yogurty dip, veggies with a dill dip, chicken salad atop some cut up cantalope, potato salad of course, and some meat balls. we played baby bingo and i passed out a survey with all the different baby names i liked and everyone had to choose there fav, or suggest a different one. as fot all the pins, rattles, etc., i would pass those out as prizes, or if they are small enough put one of each in a cute gift bag for everyone to take home. good luck and it will be great!!

Get Great Value Chips, Great VAlue Dip, and they have popsicles, about 200 for $3. The good dip is the cheap dip because you save money. You know once the visitors come and give the gift, try to get them to leave then. When they try your horrible dip, they will get sick and want to leave, thus eating less of your food. As about the games, make them boring so the visitors dont stay to long.
