I had saw a documentary in video in this page, about "Stairway To Heaven" song, at the beginning I was thinking how sad is that people manage to find something dirty even in the best peace of art... to finally fell sad about my own naivety...

Is not sad that a song like "Stairway To Heaven" had been done and calculated as The Piper trying to lead us to Hell while we was just having a good time?

rock music has always been associated with the devil regardless of whether the band are supposed 'satanists' or not...

it comes down to what effect the music has on you. I have a wealth of rock music in my collection, and not once have i ever felt tempted to 'turn to the dark side.'

Also, Pan/The piper etc more likely refers to the Horned God in Pagan belief - not lucifer despite the similarity to cloven hooves and horns! Also, turn the 'queen may' (from the blog) around to 'may queen' (as it is in the song)- perhaps they are talking about paganism in this song? I'm not saying that is the case, but its POSSIBLE as we all have our own interpretations of lyrics and meaning. And paganism has nothing to do with the 'devil' because the devil doesn't exist to Pagans, not in the same way anyhow. Are they trying to lead us to hell? Or merely depict a vision of it? Do you not feel a sense of sadness for the lady when you hear the music? I wouldn't call it a celebration of lucifer by any stretch of the imagination.

Stairway to heaven is a beautiful piece of music and, for whatever reason it was created, it still manages to inspire - don't believe everything that gets said about songs like this, documentary or no, because there's another evil demon called 'publicity' with his friend 'propaganda' who sometimes makes the truth, the real reasons behind things, very difficult to determine.

-ps, read the blog again and saw the lyrics:

There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show (Virgin Mary perhaps??)

How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last (Revelation as the word of God reaches you?)

When all are one and one is all (rejoining the creator/all sheep come back to the fold?)

So, still sure the song is satanic??

Haven't all good rock bands sang a song mentioning the devil?

What does it matter? Led rox! Bron Yur Stomp and Misty Mountain Hop are the best to me.

They sang the song Kashmir does that mean they are terrorists too? I do not think so m8!

Yes, highly talented people, especially artists are often rather strange and have problems. Is this news?

Just because you like his music you don't have to share the same beliefs as Jimmy Page.

That is a decent song.. and rumours always fly about - I do recall the song being associated with the devil and such.. but its all in ones perception of things.

Yeah - it says something that Zep ended up hating that tune with a passion, and refused to play it.

In all good their is bad - in all bad their is good .

Whichever we find is due to what it is we look for .

Only through a child's innocent eyes can the world be seen in truthful black and white .

seems to be about materialism to me. but what is materialism, you could say everyone who has a computer and maintains it is materialistic. it's all relative. it's values that are important.
