I have never ostracised someone, however I have been on the receiving end. My mothers side of the family (aunts uncles even cousins i grew up with in the UK) do not want to know me because I married a man of my choice who is a different religion to me. It has been 3 years now, my parents came round within a couple of months and my fathers side of the family (who are all in India) have supported me from the outset.
I tried holding out an olive branch many a times just to have it thrown back in my face, so I have decided that i shouldn't bother wasting my time on these ignorant proud people. What I really don't understand is if my parents are fine with it, who do my maternal family think they are by keeping up this silly stance, its not as if i'm THEIR daughter. Oh well their loss, what goes around comes around and in 5/6 years time it will be their children who will choose to marry of their own choice and I will be the first one to laugh in their face.

Ive ostracized myself from my brothers and sisters -cos they live in a dream- and don't accept the truth about our pasts.

No. It is my way to leave people who I cannot tolerate alone. They do not require my opinon, my company,or my time.
Life will provide enough situations where I must make a stand without expending energy on "other"
