has anyone done this? We are planning on going to veges and grand canyon. We plan on booking for 2 people and then having 4 people staying in the room - we will share beds or use sleeping beds. this shouldn't be a problem right? i mean as long as we basically go in separately and don't check in with 4 people.

I work for a hotel, it's no big deal. The only people that charge extra for additional guests are the crappy hotels.
Any place with a casino attached to it will be happy to have more people there.
You can also order a roll away bed but they might charge you for that.
Oh, and if they're stingy with the keys just say you lost them and get a few more, it's no big deal.

By the way Sexy-Star hotels don't look at the individual rooms water or electrical consumption.

Most upper end hotels will do anything to make you happy, don't forget that the real money is made on the gambling not the room charge.

It could be an issue - most hotels don't charge extra for up to 4 people - after 4 people, they hit you with extra fees. Sometimes EACH person needs to have a room key in hand to gain access to the room or the pool. Some weekend evenings -- especially if there's a big event happening, requires each person to show a room key to get into the elevator. (It happened to me at the Mirage. My friend had her key out and they wanted me to show mine, so I had to dig in my purse while holding an armload of shopping bags!)

IMO - be honest and own up to the 4 people. Unless you're booking a single room (which costs more anyway), it's worth it for the extra room keys.

If they know, they will bill you for 2 more people. They will look at the usage of power and water, not the beds youre using or the lack of it.
