Hmmm, a 3 year old left in charge of her younger sibling? Sounds familiar somehow....

I find it ironic that people are willing to condemn THIS act of neglect, and yet cannot see that the McCann case is really not so different. Basically, they left Madeleine in charge of the twins didn't they? Whether you believe the "checking every 15,20,30,45 minutes" defence or not, surely leaving a 3 year old in a room with two 2 year olds is the same thing, isn't it?

Bring on the "well, they were checking regularly, they were 2 yards away, they were practically in the garden" defences.

BTW, now it's suddenly come out that Murat was seen twirling his moustache and cackling evilly whilst looking in the apartment window, plus the "there was a strange man taking photos of our kids" story, wouldn't that have been more reason to ensure the kids were looked after all the time? If the McCann's felt so threatened by these events, why did they not take the kids with them to the bar?

Just getting ridiculous. Where is the common sense ya know. Just saw on Fox news yesterday story about a mom I think in Michagan or Minnesota...LOL one of the m states..left her baby in hot car while shopping in Target. Baby was in car for 1/2 hour. Mom was arrested and charged with child endangerment. It only takes common sense and honestly it does not even take that anymore because stories are all over the tv and people don't learn from them.

Yes it is absolutely unfortunate that such events are able to happen. I would have to agree with the person who said parents should have probation, and that violators should have their children taken away or simply not be allowed to have children at all. I'm sorry for such an extreme view, but if some parents were more responsible and mentally capable, there would not be such a problem, now would there?

Hi Dolly, Your not surprised by this? This world is full of idiots who can't look after themselves let alone their babies.
I've been off work this week, and have tuned into Jeremy Kile show, and this has only confirmed my lack of faith in humanity.
Why, are so many parents incapable of taking care of their kids?
Don't get me wrong, their are many out their who really do love and care for their kids, and will be sickened to read these stories.
Have a generation of children really grew up, being that spoiled, that they can only think of themselves?
If this is the case I really fear for this generation growing up.

And how old was the mother? 15?
I am not surprised, not at all. It's the same here in England. The worst though I have seen in Wales. Mothers seem to shout at the kids non-stop.

Well perhaps her mum saw that the McCanns did it and got away with it so it is okay for her to do it? This is the problem you have, you cant have one rule for one and one for another. I feel so sorry for the children involved. I am a loving caring stepmother to three who would dearly love a child of my own, but have just found out I am unable for medical reasons to conceive! It makes me sick when I see people who can have children neglecting them, when so many people would give them a caring, loving home!

Oh I know! Once my ex was in a pub, and a baby was walking outside on the pavement, busy main road, he got the baby and went round the pub demanding to know whos it was. The parents were sat there pi$$ed up, baby had got out of the buggy, they never even noticed.
Disgusting some people.

I suppose child neglect is seen as OK now after the McCanns seam to have gotten away with it, others are following suit. The difference is, THIS woman will be charged.

a mother put her toddler in the freezer like 40 miles from where i live. its like, how careless can people be. at birth, they should put the parents on probation. if they are unsuitable parents, the baby is taken away and given to proper parents. if they pass, but are found to be violating parenting, their child is taken away. if they are deemed permanently unsuitable parents, then any baby born would be taken away and/or they will be forbidden from having any children. i think thats what they should do. i hate it when my sister beats her children, the cps is on her case.
