Handwash when only a few items are dirty.

I use the dishwasher for big loads (like after we have guests at dinner.) It is a good idea to wash dishes at least once a week in the dishwasher as it will do a better job of cleaning them, including getting rid of any bacteria, since the water is much hotter than you can use washing by hand.

Here in the good old land of Oz during our 'worst drought in 10 years' I looked into the question of how much water does it take to wash dishes by hand vs dishwasher. Surprisingly, my spanking new dishwasher uses only 13.5L of water per normal load wash!!! That's washing and rinsing...less than what I use when I wash by hand. OK so maybe it's an excuse...

As a working person, I use a dishwasher. There's never enough time in the day for hand washing.

I do both methods of cleaning my dishes, Why because I like to sanitize my dishes and keep the bacteria and germs off of the clean dishes that kitchen towels can leave behind on them. I only hand wash the items that are not dishwasher safe why because this would cause them to be damaged or etched if I put them in the dishwasher when they are not safe to put in a dishwasher

I used to hand wash dishes at our old house, now I have a dishwasher and it's nice...I run the dishwasher only when it's full, so about everyother day and I run it at night while we are sleeping... It does cost a bit extra in electric, but it's worth it.. Also, I like being able to "hide" my dirty dishes if company comes over.. I LOVE my dishwasher, is that so wrong?

I handwash because I don't have a dishwasher. I guess you can actually call me the "dishwasher." So if and when I do get an actual dishwasher, I will be using that thing like it's going out of style because this "dishwasher" is retiring!

I hand wash. I used the dishwasher when I have a big dinner with family and friends on Thankgiving and Christmas. Saves time that way I can spend time with the guest.

I prefer to hand wash, because it is faster. If there are lots of dishes, I'll use the dishwasher.

I'll hand wash certain things like greasy things, big pots. Silverware, plates, bowls go in the dishwasher.(That's everything for the whole day.) I run the dishwasher at night. Or should I say that my son does it. :)

Hand wash because I typically don't have a lot of dishes...usually do them every night. Plus it gets them cleaner. No dishwasher every gets fried stuff out of a frying pan..usually. Plus hand washing saves energy and you don't have the noise of the washer running.
