Here's the tricky thing about looking for active benefits from multi-vitamins..... they are preventative, not therapeutic.
If someone is deficient in some vitamins or minerals, then taking those nutrients may provide a noticeable increase. Most people get that from B vitamins if they are deficient (as said before, they can increase energy), but many of the minerals can have the same effect for people that are deficient in that.
Most people that may be a little deficient in some nutrients report that they generally "feel better" with a multi.
Multivitamins are a very good preventative measure, especially for people that don't get enough nutrition out of their daily diet.
The thing that most people misunderstand about multivitamins is that they are not intended to be therapeutic... most people don't notice a "huge benefit" when they take it (like a caffeine pill giving you energy), but many herbs may have more therapeutic effects.
That being said, a general multi is a VERY good idea for people that don't have a good enough diet as it can prevent you from being undernourished. We have thousands of customers that get a LOT of benefits from their multivitamins, and most of those benefits are preventative... not getting sick, not having bone trouble, not having muscles ache, etc.
Oh, and for the one that said he was taking 100 mg of Iron.... make sure you don't take over 18 mg of Iron per day unless a doctor tells you to... it is toxic in higher doses, but your body needs a small amount daily.

I take multi-vitamins and yes I feel benefits. I feel healthier and yes they give me more energy. It's mostly the B-vitamins that give me the increased energy. Yes, I would recommend taking them. You need to get a good quality brand though. There are lots of brands that don't have as much vitamin in them as they claim or they simply don't put enough of the vitamin in and you feel no effect from taking them. Get them from a health store if you can. Some brands that are good are Nature's Way, Twinlab, Source Naturals, Natrol, Jarrow Formulas. You can look for these brands online, too.

In a patient who takes a normal balanced diet, additional vitamins are now known to be useless. Even the advertisers if you listen to the TV adverts now only use the word ' may '.
A recent study showed even massive doses of vitamin Care virtually worthless. There is also some concern that high levels might be carcinogenic. fat soluble vitamins in excess, accumulate and are toxic, vitamin D to the kidney and Vitamin A to the eye.
No vitamins given above normal RDA have been shown to give benefit or make anyone feel better.

I sometimes take vitamin e tablets, im not sure if it benefits me much, but psychologically its good for me, cos then I know, i am getting my daily required nutrients and it keeps me bubbly.. and if you are usually a very busy person and have no time to count your 5 a day, taking multivitamins are your best bet. Obviously try not to overdo them, 1 or 2 should be max.

I take a lot of vitamins and I feel great. Iron has taken away so much fatigue and weakness. Fish oils helps my brain. Magnesium helped me not be so sensitive to loud noises.

On the whole I think they are a waste of money. Yes there people who need extra vitamins but the majority of people who take them will just pass them out of their system down the loo. Unless you have a deficit you are unlikely to feel any different for taking them.
