I agree with you here! I've done this before, because I feel the same way, I would want my property back as well. I'm one that's just happy to return it to the person.

I've always stopped anytime I've seen a lost dog and tried to find the owner and I've returned a ton of dogs to their owners. Nobody ever offered me anything but I never expected it and wouldn't have accepted anything either. If it was my own dog, I have no idea. There is a Boxer right now that people have had signs up all over for with a reward of $1200 last I saw. I don't know.. I'd offer as much as I could possibly beg, borrow and steal to get my dog back. Heck, I'd offer them my husband..... I know they'd end up giving him back after about a week anyway.

Depends on the situation. If the returned item went to an elderly person or a child, I definitely wouldn't and haven't taken a reward. (For some reason I find alot of things.) If it is an adult, again, it just depends on the situation. In fact, I've only accepted a reward when I found a bank bag full of cash money and had to go to quite of bit of trouble to get that money to the right person.

This may sound corny as hell, but I do things to help the public that satisfies my needs. I have been a military man, broadcaster, club DJ/bouncer, and have done numerous things for strangers. It's all motivated by the giving.
I never do anything for monetary reward, except known paying jobs to keep food on the table. But life is so much more than money. Life is giving when people need it or don't expect it.
To be honest, I am very frustrated with religion, but I am still very motivated to give. I wish we could all know the truth, but until we do we are the stewards of life and we must proceed with kindness.

Some people find it an insult, if you don't take the offer. It depends on the situation. In the case of an insurance company that makes millions, then I wouldn't see a problem. If it was someone start a new business, then no.

It depends on the found item. I consider the reward to be the sincerest form of thanks. When I offer a reward for anything I hope it is an additional motivation to get the searcher to use an even more intense search tactics. I WANT them to accept the reward. I am THAT HAPPY to get it back.

I don't look for a reward. The satisfaction of returning someone's lost property is good enough for me.

I totally agree with you. If it's an individual...I would never except the reward, my reward would be the smile on their face when I returned it.

Accepting the reward is better than taking whatever you found, right ? If they want to reward you for finding it then take it.

For me the reward comes from making that person happy, especially when the lost item has sentimental value.
