I believe it is part of The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, which I looked up and copy/pasted a little info for you below.

~~Knights OfThe Golden Horn~~
In the Spring 2001 issue of the R.A.O.B. 'B.Q.J' Bro. Barry Skelhorn a member of the Leyland Lodge 4546 Chorley Province, offered a fascinating look into the past with his article on the Knights of the Golden Horn.
Brother Skelhorns article, was in response to a previous article submitted and printed in the same periodicle in 1999.
I also wrote as article to the current Editor. However, it failed to find print for whatever reason. Since a number of other letter on the subject from other sources have been placed within the pages of the journal. Such have continued to provide an interesting topic for members of the R.A.O.B. My observations at the time to Brother Skelhorn as to his thoughts on the origins of the K.G.H. are contained on this site.
To format any indepth history on any subject is very difficult. The late Brother Meryn Payne G.P. (Eng) 1934, with all his time, recources and devotion in producing his three volume Reveiw of the Order in 1952, left many gaps and unanswerd questions in the minds of our membership. He like so many of his counterparts before and afterwards, were found to be failing in one area of their quest. DOCUMENTATION. Or to be more precise - the lack of such.
Contained on the current pages under the heading of The knights of the Golden Horn, it is hoped to piece together a more detailed history of this section of the Orders history. Whatever new items are uncovered such will be added via new pages.

Yours in Buffing,
De Fudge.

~~The Origin & History of our Order~~
By Clive Warham

The Knights of the Golden Horn, like the Guild Companions of the Ark (now defunct) started life as an additional or higher Order available to members of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes. The Order was founded in 1872 and for many years operated through Minor Lodges setting up their own Encampments, working unchallenged within the RAOB, with its headquarters or head office in Hull. In 1880 a charter was applied for to form the Erimus Encampment No.1 in Middlesbrough and from then on new Encampments were formed in Stockton – on – Tees, Darlington, West Hartlepool, Leeds, Etc. with membership restricted to those initiated into the RAOB. By 1888 it was the wish of the membership to admit and initiate gentlemen independently into the Order, that is without the RAOB membership qualification, this, of course, was refused by Hull. It was therefore decided at a general meeting of the Northern Encampments to sever links with Hull and the Grand United Order of Knights of the Golden Horn was born. The Order continued to grow and soon covered all parts of England and even though it had severed its links with Hull, it still remained as part of RAOB system until 1926 when it broke away completely. It was thought by many that the Order then just drifted off into obscurity, but this, however, was not the case and it has now been extant for 116 years, celebrating its Centenary in 1988.

I don't know if The Knights of the Golden Horn has any members in the States. Hope this helps.

I've never heard of them but my dad was a member of the Masons. They were the same sort of organisation where everything was secretive.

Beautiful, beautiful poem, yet so true. No one should judge anyone. I did a search on that poem and although I am not sure if your paternal grandmother wrote this or not, I found it on a site, it will not let me post the link for some reason, but if you do a search on Google of the two first lines you will find it. I love to write and read poems. Thanks for sharing.
