Unfortunately it won't happen. A history of health issues and age will catch up with Griffey before he can get there. I really believe 700 would be a stretch for him and I think he will go a few more years and call it a career. A great guy and a great player but he won't get there.

I don't believe that's a realistic expectation.
He has been playing for 18 years and really has lost about 5 years due to injury. Bonds started in 86, Griffey in 89 and Griffey is well more than 3 years of home runs behind him.

If he went to the AL and DH'd, it would prolong a chase, but in the end, I don't see him hitting another 160 plus whatever Bonds gets afterwards

Anything is possible but at this point in his career with all the injuries he has sustained I doubt it. Had he not been hurt in the latter part of his career he would be on the Virge of the home run record. For about six or 7 years in the 90's there wasn't anyone in baseball more fun to watch or better all around.

Unfortunately, no. I don't think so. He's already on the tail-end of his career and won't be putting up huge power numbers from here on out. If there was anyone I'd love to see at the top of that list that isn't Hank Aaron, it would be Ken Griffey Jr.

It's doubtful. With this year being the exception, he hasn't proven he can stay healthy enough. Plus, who knows how many Bonds will end up with? If he continues to play for another year or two, which is possible if he decides to DH for an AL team, he could end up with 800 homers.

I thought Jr was going to retire at the end of this season. So, no.

nope age has caught up with him..if he woulda just stayed healthy once he was dealt to cinncy then id say yes..but to many injury plagued years and man i remember him as the kid in seattle and he just looks old and chunky now...(the true opposite of what players NOT on steroids should do with age)

No, he missed out on alot of homeruns over his career because he was always injured.

burger king? maybe.

homer king? no way.

junior is already in his mid 30's, and he's injury prone. plus, his team always loses!

No. Too many injuries. He does have a sweet swing though.
