I dumped McAfee anti-virus but it still pops up several times a day saying the virus definitions are out of date. I removed the program but this nifty little feature refuses to die.

Yes. I have a similar problem, and I just bought my laptop this ast May. I dumped McAfee but I still get the pop ups and reminder pop ups. I uninstalled it and still get it. We need to call McAfee, personally I don't have the patience to deal with them. I am waiting for a da when I am in a mood to deal with them in a courteous manner. But calling them is the only way at this point

I have a VERY good security program, that identifies and eliminates those pop ups. I can also initiate a scan and remove program at will. It dates the intruder so I can go back into programs and remove those that became active on a particular date. The security system also offers a delete and shred option that is basically built to Dept of Defense specs.
If you want more info contact me. I tried a few other security programs before I tried this one for 30 days and decided it was the best of the best and offered a LOT of options and is Very user friendly. Since you and I seem to have similar backgrounds, you will understand what I mean.

sure am. i left my desk for a few minutes the other day and when i came back all of my coworkers were gathered around my computer and they were giving me filthy looks. there was some pretty graphic pop ups. i don't know about you but i can control my gay porn urges pretty well (when i'm at work anyway) but no one believed that i wasn't just at some hot, steamy sites.

i hate that, maybe you have to remove its registry stuff. then it can't work since everything on windows is based on the registry. panda is the best, i love it. but i moved onto linux and don't need it anymore.
