Mr McCann has already discussed efforts to tackle child abduction with US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales

The meetings are part of a visit to the US to learn about the work of specialist agencies in preventing child trafficking and sexual abuse.

I hope he talks about stopping STUPID parents going out boozing with friends while failing to look after their children. I bet he wont find Maddie in the USA

I think the way the press has defended them is disgusting. They should be prosecuted for their neglect of the kids, it wasnt for just one night was it? It was throughout the whole holiday.

Yes I think they do; if this was a couple from Port Talbot or Hull or Mersey Side, social services would have already taken the other children into care and the Police would have already had the file over at the CPS. This stinks and the press should be ashamed. What, dont Health Care Professionals be negligent..... remember Harold Shipman. They should be charged immediately, trying to do baby sitting on the cheap has cost that little girl her life. And where is Gerry, sorting USA issues now he is a f*******g expert.

Of course they should.
What worries me is that, if they were to be charged with child neglect only, they could be getting away with a more serious crime. They should be investigated. Why is Gerry discussing child trafficking and sexual abuse with these people? How does he know that this is what happened to his daughter if, apparently, not even the police knows what happened to her yet?
Nothing makes sense I’m quite sure the McCanns are involved in her disappearance.

Possibly!

investigation of the parents actions that night and on previous nights of the holiday (When were the children checked? Did they go much further away from the apartment on other nights? Where children heard crying for long periods), have the parents left the children when at home (there are some indications that they have).

Then if there is evidence charge for neglect.

They should have had some sort of rebuke for telling police the wrong times of checking her at the beginning as it wasted time.

In terms of child abandonment they should be warned about that and the police should state leaving children is unacceptable.

I am not so sure about a formal proescution.

It's a tough one, but if it was someone in a council block of flats that had buggered off next door for dinner and left their very young children all alone. Then they would definitely be investigated for child neglect by the social services, so it seems only right that the same investigation is carried out against the McCanns. So I would have to go with;

Yes.

That's not to say I don't feel sorry for them though, I can't even imagine ANYTHING worse than losing a child.

Yes, especially now as they have announced that the authorities assured them that what they did was within the boundaries of good parenting. I would have been more sympathetic to them if they had held up their hands in the first place and admitted they were wrong in leaving 3 babies alone to go out drinking. I`m amazed at their disbelief at public reaction, especially when they tried to justify their actions by saying everyone does what they did. I`ve certainly never left my children to fend for themselves.
