I am thinking of starting one, and need to know how they work, is it a free service or a membership fee.. How does the guild operate and what is the purpose of one?

I got the all databases yesterday, no i need to know how to connect all these people. I really want to create a guild though which all members can share ideas and products.

At the moment I only belong to one - the Bead Society of Great Britain, which is run by volunteers. We get a quarterly newletter and news about upcoming shows and events, museum exhibitions and so on. Larger guilds have offices and paid staff, and members pay much larger annual membership fees than I do (I only pay, I think £10 a year), but bigger guilds have subscriptions 3 times as much. You didn't say which craft you were involved with - there may already be one. Be warned, if you start one as an organiser, you won't have time for anything except admin. Or did you mean an on-line one? Later - I've seen your additions - if you're in the States I'm almost sure there is a beading guild already - I think you are being set up by the retailer for a lot of unpaid work on his behalf.
