I have been on it since 19 now 46. Taking it for various reasons the obvious one but also to control a health issue (endo). I am concerned when I will have to go off it for safety sake (stroke). I don't smoke. I have asked my gyno office and don't seem to get an answer.

Many women are able to take the pill right up to menopause. If you don't smoke or have high blood pressure the risk of stroke is extremely low even in your forties.

It will depend on the overall situation with your health and medical history.

I am 35 years old and still taking the pill. I've met some women that are in their early 40s and take the pill still.

I would recommend getting an appt with your gynecologist to discuss this issue further. If they still won't answer check with your primary care physician to see what they say.

Since you do not smoke, your risk factors are lower than women who do smoke. If you are relatively healthy, then you could more than likely continue with the pill until you hit menopause.

I'm 39 and am on Yaz strictly for PMDD. I cannot go off of it until I hit menopause b/c the PMDD made me suicidal every month. I'm a non-smoker as well.

I wish you the best.

I'm surprised you are still on the pill, so you must be in excellent health. Due to high blood pressure, I had to stop at 36. I guess as long as your health is good, you can stay on until peri-menopause. Zippy
