I'm planning on buying a car off ebay with paypal. But before I bid, is this safe? Has anyone else done this? What other ways can you purchase a car off ebay? They buyer has not restricted payment method and I am planning to pay in cash. Is there a better method than paypal? Thanks.

I would be MUCH more concerned about buying a car I had not actually seen than about using PayPal to pay for it. You said you plan to pay cash, PayPal and cash are NOT the same. As for other methods of payment, E-Bay places ZERO restrictions. ANY form of payment you and the seller agree to is allowed. PayPal provides more buyer protection than many forms of payment.

I have sold cars, houses and a $275,000 motorhome with paypal. The only bad part is the charges they charge for large purchases. Take that into consideration.

It is safe - but you do pay a surcharge for large purchases.
