Nope, it was a portal to the heavens for the dead Pharaohs based on their religious beliefs. If you look at how dry Egypt is, you'll see it was a lousy rain making tool.

What you are thinking is that the pyramids were use to filter and to store water, The stone that were use would be good for this.
What kills this theory is that it would have been easy to make bigger cavities in the pyramids. or if it was made to make rain, run off the pyramids there would be some evidents of a large depression around the area for the rain be stored.

No, pyramids were built as elaborate tombs for the Pharoah's of Egypt. Not "rain making machines."
