Imagery, use of symbols and emotion, make a good poem moving. If can employ some fugures of speech also make a good poem.

The words you use. Such as syrupy, expressive words. A word that can show lots of meanings.

Real emotion and experience ! i think you should put a piece of yourself into poetry give the reader a glimpse of your soul.
