When you ask a question about an author and his or her book, it is important to at least spell the name correctly. Otherwise, you aren't likely to receive a response.

Washington Irving who was born 1783 and died in 1859 also wrote under the pseudonyms of Geoffrey Crayon, Diedrich Knickerbocker, Jonathan Oldstyle, and Launcelot Langstaff. This American short story writer, essayist, historian, biographer, journalist, and editor is among our most beloved authors. He was also a lawyer.

Having said all of that, let me point out, as you have, that "The Widow and Her Son" is a short story. You should be able to read it and write your own commentary. If you have specific questions, once you've read it then post another question or email it to me.
