I rarely get down. I am sustained by Gods love, therein lies my peace,. I remember the saying
"I cried because I had no shoes. Then I met a man who had no feet"
I live by that. Knowing that someone is so much worse off than I am changes my perspective. I then refocus on my blessings.

Usually, I can put on an upbeat song or a song that reminds me of good times with friends. When that isn't doing the trick, a little exercise goes a loooong way. It releases endorphines and seratonin which biologically gets your mood up. But more importantly, you feel sexy after doing some exercise. Even if its just going on a walk for 30mins - 1hour. Of course, the more fun the exercise is, the happier you will be (swimming is great, skiing is my favorite, but the gym can get it done too).
When all this has failed, surrounding myself with friends is the best bet. My only problem with this is that it is a temporary fix to a real existing problem. So after a night of boozing, laughing and maybe even getting lucky, you still have to wake up with the problem that brought you down in the first place, plus a hangover and, if you're lucky, trying to remember the name of the person who's in the same bed as you.
Of course, there is also family. No matter how bad off you are with your family, the closeness you feel when things are good is unbeatable. This is a genuine feeling of happiness that will last beyond any problem you may encounter in life.
Or, at least thats how my life goes.
