I didn't know they did that! where have I been I only miss a couple episodes and it has mostly been about Blair/Todd and Nate the supremest. What are they doing giving Asa a heart attack? but remember Asa has faked his death before and he may be trying to save 10 million dollars since he had to pay David. He is probably in hiding and faking his death because it will come out he is the one who killed Spencer. Why else would he pay David 10 million to take the wrap.

I hate to see Asa leave, but that's what he wants. The newbies like Tate, Vincent, Cole, Miles, etc. will NEVER be the caliber of an Asa Buchanan. I'll miss Asa too, but he's ready to retire and take care of himself. He doesn't need the long grueling hours.

You're right about Phil Carey being one of the most long-established residents of Llanview. I hate to see him leave too, but it was his decision. OLTL offered him a contract and/or a recurring role but he still chose to leave. He struggled with lung cancer and is doing well now, but he wanted to spend more time with his family and get proper rest. I respect that. Asa was so loved and hated at the same time. He was like a puppy dog at heart but so mean and gruff on the outside. He has had a career he can be proud of. He'll be missed.

I'd be upset if it wasn't his decision. Phil Carey did an interview about 5 years ago in which he stated he was ready to retire then, but OLTL didn't want to let him go. They like Asa too. This past year, he suffered from cancer, which is why Asa wasn't on a lot. The man is 82 years old, he's recovering from cancer, he's tired. And while I will sorely miss the character Asa, I respect his decision and his wishes and hope everyone does the same.

Yes, I am sad that they are killing him off but since the actor who plays him has been battling cancer, I think it is a good idea. I'd rather see Asa die then have someone else play the character.

I'm a little upset but Asa hasn't really had any storylines lately anyways. For his funeral Kevin, Joey, Cord Roberts, Max Holden and Alex Olanov are coming back.

Phil quit the show. his character is still alive, but for how long?
I don't know if they are trying to get a replacement actor, or not. One of the reasons Phil quit was that Asa was not getting any major storylines. Phil wanted a firm contract, and they would not give him one. All he was getting was "bit parts" occasionally, and he got tired of that.

I'm upset with HOW they're doing it. I think Phil Carey was wanting to retire... if I remember correctly.
But to have his exit be off screen is a kick in the teeth to one of the people who made the show strong for decades.

ABC keeps losing it's stars all the time. I don't know why it keeps happening. As for Phil Carey leaving the show, he keeps taking time off for medical reasons all the time, so why not just kill him off.
