i have to write a monologue based on a poem. what types would you on how to start

Read others poems and you'll be inspired to write.

google "If", by Rudyard Kipling. It speaks as to how to live your life so you'll be a man. I think you could do a good monologue on it because you could take each pair of lines and follow them up with prose as to how they apply. Such as, "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you"...you can see where you could pick up on that thought and do the same for all the other nuggets in this very famous poem

I would start out and say.....

The elections are on every bodies minds lately. One of the most common topics is universal health care, I for one am against it. I am against all health care that I have to pay for. The reason being, is that I feel that laughter is the best medicine. (pause for thunderous laughter) Seriously, that is how I have treat all my ailments, including broken bones. (pause for belly laughs) Then, just kind of go from there.
