To start a web hosting company the first thing that you need is a dedicated 24hours running web server. However if you have bought enough web space somewhere then you are ready to go. Now that you have the server ready start looking for the customer .preparing a web server is a very daunting task but there are companies like Dell and HP who would do that for you.

A very fast uploading connection (most broadband has a very slow upload compared to download), a reliable server with a reliable fallback to a backup server, battery and generator backup against power failures, a business isp account with fixed IP address and reliable dns. The best alternative is to look fro a web hosting company who will allow you to rent either large amounts of space on their servers, or alternatively rent a server at their site. Either way the biggest requirement is plenty of money.
