1.Lola.. I think it sums up firstly, the sexual curiosity of the young ( in any era). Secondly the diversity and shifting of boundaries in the sixties. Thirdly it is quintessentially British; An average young hetro man being confronted by a contradiction in attitude and concepts, with an honest and compassionate account. All strung together in a pop song.
2. You really got me... Fantastic riff which can build and subside with equal power.
3. Dedicated follower of fashion... It makes me smile every time.

Sorry couldn't just put one down. The Ray Davies was a master with words.

First of all... I LOVE THE KINKS. They have been one of my favorite bands since I first heard about them around 1997 or 1998. Anywho, it's really tough to pick a favorite song by them but I would say Destroyer is right now. I like how they reference Lola at the beginning which is another one of my favorites and I like how it kinda transitions from a slower beat to a fast one and back again. I wouldn't necessarily say that it is my favorite but it is the one that I listen to more often than the others right now.

The Ape Man - purely because of its caustic, intelligent lyrics, and of course Ray Davies' beautiful voice! I love the Kinks, and they are on many a complilation CD that hubby and I do for our own entertainment.

I have always loved "Better Things" which I heard in an interview with Ray Davies happens to be his favorite song as well.

I love "Really Got Me" "Dedicated Follower of Fashion" "Superman" and "Celluliod Heroes"

The first one because it is about as punk as you can get (way ahead of its time) the second because it makes me laugh, the third and fourth because they are so well written especially Celluloid Heroes.
