go to a gynocologist and explain the periods you have been having. They can do testing on hormone levels to get a better idea of why the periods aren't coming regularly and determine what treatments may be needed. I was having periods every 6-12 months for awhile and found out i have PCO, but i know have 2 boys so getting the testing done was well worth it.

Are you slightly overweight? It sounds to me like you're not ovulating, which is normally a result of being overweight or underweight. When you don't get your period it means you haven't ovulated and there is no way to fall pregnant during that time. You need to fix that. You can take clomid to make you ovulate and it might help to regulate your period too. If not you can take progesterone tablets to bring on your period faster. I tried for eight years to fall pregnant and I didn't fall pregnant in that time except for once back in February this year. I lost it and was devastated!! I am now almost eight weeks pregnant and going well so in eight years I've fallen pregnant twice both this year. I lost 14 kilos though and that helped. I also stopped eating at night and that helped too. I am sure you will have children - you just need to regulate your cycle and have sex at the right time! Good luck!

I had this problem and a doctor put me on fertility drugs. ( I had been married for 3 years and had never used birth control) I ended up with a tubal pregnancy which was about the worst experience in my life. Then the doctor that did the surgery told me that if I wanted children I would have to look into invetro-fertilization, and would never have children on my own. And here I am pregnant again. I have a lovely 2 year old. And in March I had a miscarriage. I did leave my 1st husband. And am now happy with my second husband. I believe that God did not want me to have children with my first husband. (second hubby is father to both babies)
Edit-My first husband was tested and his sperm count was normal.

I'd see your OBGYN you might have PCOS or another fertility problem the longer you wait to seek medical help the less your chances of having a baby are. the average time for a normal fertile couple to fall pregnant is 6 months so if it's longer than that you may have a problem.

I would have loved having a girlfriend like you at that age. lol, just joking. It's probably his sperm count isn't enough to activate a child. Is he a druggie? or was he? some times that kills a man's ability to produce. It's a nature thing, you know, that guy we call "GOD" I could be wrong, it could be genetic, well, I guess we call that the same thing, nature, I mean. I don't think it's you, because you didn't say your relatives have the same problem, so check out his relatives, if there is no problem, and you are drug free, and didn't do them heavily in the past, then it must be his past. Good luck honey, Ron

If you're sexually active you should be seeing a gyno for annual exams. You need to discuss with a doctor why you are only having periods every 4-5 months.

I agree that you should try the ovulation tests, and you could be trying to hard. My brother and his wife have been trying for a baby for over a year now and nothing....BOTH have been tested and are perfectly capable of having kids. So sometimes you may just be trying to hard, or God is just telling you that now is not the right time yet. Good Luck!!

If you are sexually active and haven't been using contraception for 3 years and still haven't fallen pregnant, its time to see the doctors, for some help.
There is help out there, but it can take a few goes, so the sooner you know for sure, the sooner you and your partner can check out the options.
