Is a revolution in order? Has the government taken step to prevent such a thing from ever happening? As a 21 year old college student I watch the history channel and see revolutions in the past happening for much less issues! Our Public servents are no longer servents but puppets to the growing gap in economic differance.

Consider reading "Armed Madhouse" by Greg Palast, if you haven't already.

Oh, I see, social security is protecting the government. And Medicare A and B, that's protecting our Federal and State governments. Oh, and there are the universal laws that kidnapping, raping, stealing, and murder are illegal, and those, too, are there to look after the government. And that low interest, government underwritten loan that let's you attend that college of yours...that's looking after the governments, too, I suspect.

What is really happening in our nation is that big business is buying votes in our nation's governments. So the true public servants are drown out when they try to act like state persons and do the right thing. And the best way to fix that is vote those big business bought politicians out of office. The nice thing about a democracy is that revolution is not necessary to make a change.

Americans are comfortable for the most part. They won't really care until most of the population can't afford a home or food for their children. We have become so arrogant and so apathetic to whats going on around us, it is truly sickening.

Look at the idiots responding...anti-American...I guess I must have missed the part where our founding fathers told us to be ignorant and complacent.

But then again, when you have cable TV, the Internet, and air conditioning...who cares right?!

It's up to our generation to change this, the past generations have completely failed to keep this government in check. The old ***** can whine and cry as much as they want about it...but we can take this country back.

There are plenty of us who realize it, trust me. However, we are still vastly outnumbered by the apathetic sheep who simply don't care. In our shallow, materialistic consumer society, all the average slob cares about is stuffing their face with McDonald's as they pilot their 6-miles-to-the-gallon SUV land yacht to Wal-Mart so they can buy a new big screen TV to watch American Idol and NASCAR on. Participating in politics and keeping up to date on current events is simply too much work for them. Our "democracy" has slowly devolved into a plutocratic oligarchy of corrupt politicians, wealthy elites, and corporate conglomerates while the general public obsesses over Survivor. "Bread and circuses"...sad but true.
I don't think revolution is necessarily the answer, but politics in this country do need a big shake up and some thorough house cleaning. As for our societal woes? I don't have the answer...

NIXON tried to make this democracy into a totalitarian state; LUCKILY THERE WAS WATERGATE! So who knows what BUSH and his chums ARE doing or will do. Based on their pass performances whatever they are doing or will do, couldn't be good for the home of the brave!

Anyway, there are more important things to THINK about, i.e. AMERICA IDOL, BACHELOR, CAN YOU DANCE, UGLY BETTY and by all means WE CAN'T FORGET ABOUT NATALEE HOLLOWAY or whatever.....and gosh by golly we gotta keep in touch with FOX...they will let us know if the government is into any hanky panky; right? right! ....oops almost forgot about PARIS HILTON'S JAILHOUSE ROCK and BRITNEY SPEARS' MELTDOWN hehehe!!

when i think of America, a vision of an old couple living on SSI comes to mind...it's not about the rich, it's about how we treat the least among us....it how we treat everyone, not just the pro football players or politicians.
