The Retarded Citizens' Thrift Store on Main Street in Ventura (see the listing in the PDF file for full address) is one of the better stores. It's a little old and the only air circulation are the overhead fans, but there are some good bargains to be found there. Every week they pick a certain color tag that gets a discount. If you want the greatest discount, go on Wednesday when all items with the tag of the week are 3 for 1 or Sunday when all items with the tag are 50% off. The "Best in the Store" racks usually have the better items in the store, but there are really cheap overlooked finds to be made in some of the others.

If you happen to be in the area one day, another excellent store just for books is the Book Cellar run every Saturday by the Friends of the Agoura Hills Library right on the edge of the Los Angeles-Ventura County line (29901 Ladyface Court, Exit Kanan on the 101). Books are available on a variety of subjects, and a majority are under $2. I picked up countless college textbooks at the store that were very close to new for $1. This has to be one of my favorite bookstores.

i don't live in socal, but when i went their this summer, i went to a thrift store on Melrose Avenue (in L.A.) and they had so muuuch nice clothes! I got designer jeans for 15 dollars! =]
